The end of 1986 was a wild time for Continental. The Armstrongs were leaving for other areas. Ric Flair made his last appearances in the area. Kevin Sullivan comes in with his wild and evil Army. The team of Jerry Stubbs and The Dirty White Boy is formed. Dr. Tom Prichard and Wendell Cooley take their first steps as being the top wrestlers in Continental. The Nightmares return. Rip Rogers returns to face Adrian Street. Relive it all now on a special 4 DVD Set!!!

The TVs are from Columbus MS and Knoxville TN markets and features interviews for the local matches.  For the most part the video is good to very good. There is a roll at times on 1 program because it was taped on rabbit ears. The only episode that is rough is in Dec. yet you can still watch and hear it.

Misty returns to the water September 6th in Johnson City

Fall is in the year that means Football is here, MLB plays are soon to start, and Misty James will be back in the water with her team The Water Warriors. Misty and team will be racing Sat. Sept 6th at The Dragon Boat Race in Johnson City. If you are in the area come out and support them. All the money raised goes to our area Children's Hospital.

Remebering Brian Overbay 1972-2014

I told a wrestling friend about 2 months ago we are surrounded by death and is getting ready to come in waves. The last few weeks the waves have started.

Wrestling is hard life at times. I was told when I first started in wrestling that it was not only my job but my duty to be gone away from home more than I would at home. If there was ever a time I wanted to do something other that wrestling related activities then I need to get out.

Wrestling is not only a job it's a way of life. I have missed sister's weddings, family reunions, niece's and nephew's ball games and school activities. All because I was booked. I have always went by the rule that it is not only my responsibility to carry on what was past to me but pass it along to anyone I helped get started in wrestling.

I was also told and have come to see if you are involved in wrestling people stay in touch , but when you are out or on the side lines the phone stops ringing and the emails are all spam. That is a hard reality to grasp at times. Is it right? Probably not but that is the way it is.

Last week we laid to rest a guy that I knew of way before I knew him. I played baseball against him. I saw him ringside growing up at Mid Atlantic and Continental Wrestling. I was introduced to Brian Overbay when I was around 20 years old. We became friends fast. We liked the same sports teams and grew up on the same wrestling.

I was reminded and told by Brian's Mom, cousins, and uncles at his service that he loved me like a brother. I was told that the happiest time of his life was his short wrestling career. Brian and I butted heads a lot about wrestling. Unlike me Brian did not like the road. He wanted to wrestle a small schedule close to home. We would argue about what towns he was going to make almost every week.

Over his 3 1/2 years in wrestling Brian made limited road trips (200 plus miles) with me but everyone is memorable for one reason or another. I did like traveling with him when he would get out and go because when it was over like me he wanted to get in the car and get home. No stopping or spending money.

Brian was liked a lot by the fans who came to the matches. I always pushed him to do more. See more of the country. I suggested the same with his music because he was very talented in playing anything with strings.

Over the last several years I did not keep up with Brian like I should. Life on the road and many changes in my life have changed a lot things the last few years. Like I said before it's a hard to grasp reality. If your in people stay in touch. Out not so much. I sat there at his service thinking about how I did not make the effort to stay in touch like I should. I did not stop by his house like I should. I did not call like I should. He made me madder than anyone else I could ever think of at times. But that was because he was closer to me than just about anyone over the years.

I was so happy to hear that on Mother's Day he called his Mom to tell her he had made everything right with our Lord. That gives me great joy and confront knowing I will see him on the other side and I will be able to make up for lost time.

The last time I saw Brian was right before my surgery. I ran into him while I was out promoting the TNA Wrestling event in Bristol. Brian did not look good and told me he had been sick. I hand no idea how bad it was. I should have took more time and asked. I have had a rough time dealing with this the last few days. I'm sad he is gone and mad at myself for lost time and chances.

I pray that you add Brian's family to your prayers. I can not imagine what it is like losing a child. I have added a couple videos below of the two matches Brian talked about the most. I'm glad I was able to help him enjoy some happiness in his short life.

New Year and New Challenges

First off I'm sorry that I have not updated in a few weeks and we are behind on our VLOGs. Most of you know why and I'll get to that in a minute.

I want to take a moment to thank everyone who came out Friday to the TNA Impact Wrestling event in Bristol, TN. That was mine and Misty's first town as promoters for them and everyone seemed please with the event. It was a big fund raiser for the Vance Middle School athletics.

Sting returns to the Tri-Cities


Another thank you to everyone who packed The Civic Center in McMinnville, TN. That event helped out the city's Park and Rec. department. I also was on the street promoting this coming Thursdays big live TV special Genesis in Huntsville, AL. I'll be watching from my recovery bed at home.

Now on to the new challenge of the new year. As I writ this I'm 14 hours away from back surgery. I have had many injuries of the years. I have gritted and went one. IN 1997 I had a minor back surgery (if there is such a thing). Years of being in the ring and hundreds of thousands of miles riding in the car to events and back have caused me trouble. The last two years I have battle through worsting pain. Christmas Night with a swing of a baseball bat Frank Parker caused serious damage.

I think he hit a home run

The last few weeks pain has been awful. I battle through the pain to fulfill my duties promoting for TNA. I will be in the care of Dr. Thomas who comes with high recommendations and praise. I have met with him and really like the guy. I'm being told that I'm looking at one year being out of the ring. This is hard news to take.

Wrestling is not a hobby, nor just a job its a way of life for me. When I die Misty knows I want on my grave stone "Beau James Pro Wrestler". The one constant in my life since I was 15 years old has been the fact that I'm booked and have towns to make. I unpacked my bag this week and put my gear up for the first time in my life. I have a few appearances this year. I have been told by TNA I will have more towns to promote when I'm ready.

The family business SSW will roll on. Nephew Dakota Booth is doing TV. Jake and Misty will be doing what ever needs  to be done. They also are still taking bookings. So I will make some towns with them when I'm able.

To say I'm freaking out a little bit is an understatement. To say I'm worried and nervous about my future is also an understatement. I have always survived by wrestling. I chose it to take care of me and I have some how some way made it all these years.

Dr. Thomas said I will have about 8 weeks of time that I need to rest and heal. That means 8 weeks of not working and limited income. I in my prayers have turned all this over to the big Booker upstairs. Many of you have emailed me and told me you will be praying. I say Thank YOU. Please keep praying and also pray for Misty and my family. I know I will drive them nuts during all of this.

When I am able I will be adding 3 new SSW DVDs to this page. Be looking for them. Also if you have not already check out the SSW DVDs to the left and the classic Southern Wrestling DVDs to the right. I'm also extending the Christmas Sale on my books as it will now be a broke my back for wrestling sale both my books for only $35.
